'Hash Pipe' Band Weezer Performs for Andrew Yang in Iowa

Andrew Yang's surprising presidential campaign got a boost on November 1 when Weezer performed at an event in Des Moines, IA

The candidate came on stage at the end of "Say It Ain't So," clapping along and then hugging Weezer's lead singer Rivers Cuomo.

Yangapalooza took place at Brenton's Skating Plaza. Cuomos was joined by band bassist Scott Shriner and their "buddy Adam on the drums." They performed songs from the The Teal Album, which is all covers, as well as "Buddy Holly," "Beverly Hills" and "Undone - The Sweater Song." However, they left CelebStoner favorite "Hash Pipe" out of the set. Cue to 33:00 in the video below to watch Weezer's entire set:

Cuomos is on the short list of Yang's celebrity supporters and donors that also includes actors Nicolas Cage and Noah Centineo and comedian Tommy Chong, who has tweeted, "Yes, I am part of the Yang Gang."

Yang has built his campaign around what he dubs the "Freedom Dividend," or universal basic income. As president, he would give every American (18 and over) $1,000 per month. During his career in business, Yang has accumulated $1 million in wealth. He appeared in the first three Democratic presdential candidates debates and, with 2% to as high as 6% in recent polls, has qualified for the next one on November 20.

Yang has called for resolving "the ambiguity and legalize marijuana at the federal level" and sells campaign shirts that read, "MATH. MONEY. MARIJUANA."
