Pelosi on Trump: 'He Looked Like He Was a Little Sedated'

During her comments about President Trump's State of the Union address, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi described the moment when Trump refused to shake her hand (cue to the 40-second mark):

"I extended the hand of friendship to him to welcome him as the President of the United States in the People's House. It was also an act of kindness because he looked to me like he was sedated. He looked like that last year too. But he didn't want to shake hands."

After the speech, Pelosi famously tore up the copy of Trump's remarks for all to see.

"He looked to me like he was a little sedated. He looked like that last year too."

"That meant nothing to me," she went on. "It had nothing to do with my tearing up. That came much later. I'm a speed reader. I went right through that thing. So I knew what was coming when I saw the compilation of falsehoods. I heard the first quarter or third, then I started to think there has to be something clearly indicating to the American people that this is not the truth. He has shredded the truth in his speech, he's shredding the Constitution in his conduct, I shredded his State of His Mind address."

A teetotaler, Trump says he's never drank alcohol or used recreational drugs. He takes the following medications:

• tetracycline, an antibiotic, to control rosacea, a condition that causes the face to redden

• finasteride (Propecia), a prostate drug, but also used for male-pattern baldness

• rosuvastatin (Crestor), a statin drug, to lower cholesterol.

Some have suggested that Trump snorts something due to his sniffing attacks during speeches.

It would appear Pelosi was hinting that Trump had taken several Valium to calm his nerves before the speech, which is entirely possible, though he doesn't have a prescription for it that we know of.
