Canadian singer Drake's deal with Canopy Growth, the mega-cannabis company in Ontario, has fallen through. Canopy Growth announced the separation from Drake's More Life Growth Company on June 2.

In an email sent to Bloomberg, a Canopy spokesperson stated: "We have indeed divested from More Life and the facility in Scarborough which had been intended to be part of that agreement is now Canopy Growth's R&D facility, where we will work on plant science and science development projects."

Canopy and More Growth reached a partnerhip ageement in 2017. The 60%-40% split in favor of More Growth was apparently one of the reasons Canopy wanted out.

Last year Canopy CEO David Klein commented about More Life: "I would say it is not been progressing as originally intended and we're still working on details to determine where it goes. It may be something that can't get to where we all want it to go. In many regards, at its essence, it's almost a real estate play where More Life is going to do a lot of activity on cannabis destinations. I don't know if that still fits anybody's way of thinking, at least in the Covid world."

Drake was among several celebrities - also including Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen and Martha Stewart - signed up by Canopy to establish cannabis brands when Bruce Linton was CEO.

Drake or his representatives have yet to comment on this development. However, Drake tweeted: "Drake's 'More Life' doesn't get the respect it deserves."

More Life is named after the 2017 Drake mixtape of the same name.

Drake has had 25 Top 10 singles since 2007, including "Hotline Bling" (No. 1, 2015, watch below) and "God's Plan" (No. 1, 2018). Both songs won Grammy Awards.
