Busted in Manhattan for possession of a controlled substance, DJ Clue hosts a daily radio show on Power 105.1

Caught in a late-night dragnet, DJ Clue was stopped by NYPD at 2 am Wednesday and arrested for possessing a controlled substance (three unidentified pills) and driving with a suspended license. Apparently the latter offense justified a search in the police's opinion.

The pullover took place on Varick St. on the lower West Side of Manhattan, an area notorious for police checkpoints as drivers head to New Jersey crossings past midnight. Clue has had his license suspended eight times, NYPD contends.

In a statement, Clue's attorney Xavier Donaldson claims his client is innocent of both charges.

Born in nearby Queens, Clue (nee Ernesto Shaw) hosts the 6-10 pm slot on New York's Power 105.1. He's produced Mariah Carey and "Dopeman" by Jay-Z , has three solo albums on Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella label and owns Desert Storm Records.
