Arrests, Death Mar Phish Run at SPAC

State Park and Saratoga Springs police made 80 drug arrests during Phish's three-day engagement at SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center) over the July 4th weekend.

The authorities' combined efforts, known as Operation Impact, was empowered to "aggressively deal with illegal narcotics often associated with these types of events," said Lt. John Cantone.

Brent Wallace of Randolph, Vermont died on July 6 after being placed on life support. It has been erroneously reported that he suffered a drug overdose (see comment below).

Phish's 30th anniversary summer tour continues through Aug. 5.
