Indio Downey strikes a rock star pose.

Robert Downey Jr.'s son, Indio, was caught with a bag of cocaine in West Hollywood on June 29 when police pulled over a car he was riding in. “Unfortunately, there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it,” stated Downey, who had his own much publicized bout with substance abuse.

“We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s Department for their intervention," the actor added. "and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”

Police spotted Indio smoking a pipe and made the traffic stop at Santa Monica Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd. at 2 pm. The amount of cocaine found was not reported. Downey was arrested and taken to jail, where he posted a $10,500 bond and was released after midnight.

Last October, Indio went to treatment for dependence on prescription meds. His mother Deborah Falconer (Downey and her are divorced) claimed at the time, "He's not addicted. He was talking one pill a day."
