7. U.S. Marijuana Arrest Numbers Continue to Decline

Marijuana arrests went down for the forth year in a row, from 853,638 in 2010 to 693,481in 2013 - a drop of 19% during that period. In 2013, 88% of the busts were for possession and 12% for cultivation and trafficking. Of the 1.5 million drug arrests made in 2013, 46% were for marijuana. Drug arrests make up 13% of all criminal arrests annually (11.3 million) in the U.S..
