Hemp Jeweler Accused of Attack on Paul Pelosi in San Francisco

David DePape, who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, at their Pacific Heights home in San Francisco on October 28 at 2:30 am with a hammer, has been described as a hemp jeweler and a public nudity advocate.

DePape arrived from British Columbia where he's from 20 years ago. He's lived in the Bay Area during that time, allegedly struggling with hard drug use and often residing in a storage unit.

The attack on Pelosi happened when the Congress leader was not home. Neighbors say there's a large police presence when she's home and less so when she's not. The assailant broke through the back entrance to gain access to the building. He struck Pelosi numerous times in the head, causing a skull fracture and other injuries.

DePape is a 2022 election denier and who recently wrote that journalists who do not agree with this "should be dragged straight out into the street and shot." People who broke into the Capitol on January 6, 2021 sought Pelosi, asking, "Where's Nancy?" That's same thing DePape, 42, supposedly said when he entered the house.

DePape has been known to make hemp bracelets and other items wtih Laura Hayes.

He's charged attempted homicide, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, elder abuse, infliction of great bodily injury on the elderly, dissuading a victim, threatening a family member of a public official and damaging or preventing a communication for an emergency call.
