Pot Leaf Tattoo on Kilmar Garcia's Knuckle References MS-13, Trump Contends

Trump shows photo of Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s alleged MS-13 tattoo and a close-up on Garcia’s knuckles revealing the marijuana leaf.

Obsessed with tattoos worn by migrants, the U.S. government has been deporting people for having gang references etched on their bodies.

The most famous deportee, Kilmer Abrego Garcia, currently jailed in El Salvador, allegedly has MS-13 tattooed on the knuckles of his left hand. It starts with a marijuana leaf for M and follows with a smiley face for S, a cross for 1 and a skull for 3.

While Pres. Trump maintains the symbols reference the Venezuela gang MS-13, others question that. "A tattoo alone, with nothing more, cannot be a single basis to opine someone is a gang member," John Colello, who works in Los Angeles County's DA office, tells CBS News.

The image Trump showed during his interview with ABC's Terry Moran was doctored to include the letters and numerals M S 1 3.

But the fact remains Garcia has a pot leaf on his knuckle.

Most of the migrants shipped to El Salvador in March were Venezualans; Garcia is from El Salvador.
