Cannabis Freedom Rally Rocks Boston

The marijuana legalization troops were out in force on Boston Common on Sept. 26-27 for the 26th Annual Freedom Rally, sponsored by MassCann/NORML.

Bands and speakers rocked two stages, starting at high noon. Saturday's lineup included back-to-back performances by reggae acts Tosh 1 (son of Peter Tosh, who was joined by his four daughters on stage), Soulshots (featuring members of the Skatalites) and  Duppy Conquerors on the Main Stage.

Dr. Lester Grinspoon: "The best defense against greedy legalizers is to grow your own."

Speakers included Dr. Lester Grinsppon, who recalled how Carl Sagan first got him stoned; NORML's Keith Stroup, Bay State Repeal's Steve Epstein, The Campaign's Dick Evans, 4Front's Kris Krane, CelebStoner's Steve Bloom and Oregon attorney Lee Berger. High Times' Rick Cusick led the 4:20 Countdowm.

Whereas Saturday was an eight-hour affair, Sunday's rally will ran from 12-6 pm.
