The Days Between: Celebrating Jerry Garcia's 75th Birthday

The nine days from Aug. 1-9 have been officially dubbed "The Days Between," after the Grateful Dead song. It refers to Jerry Garcia's birthday (Aug. 1, 1942) and the day he died (Aug. 9, 1995). This year, many special events are planned to commemorate Garcia's75th birthday.

Here's what happening:

July 28

• Release of GarciaLive Volume Nine: August 11, 1974 Keystone BerkeleyThe double-disc features Merl Saunders and includes versions of "The Harder They Come" and "The Night They Drive Old Dixie Down," but no Dead songs.

Aug. 1

• Fathom Events' 7th Annual Grateful Dead Meetup at the Movies will screen a Dead show from July 12, 1989 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC in theaters around the country.
