After a complete wipeout in 2020 due to Covid-19, cannabis-industry conferences and festivals are coming back in 2021.
Here's a list of scheduled events:
Flower of Power Festival - Austin 6/12
Presented by KM420RADIO at The Music Ranch, this Texas event will feature live music, speakers and vendors. The entry fee is $4.20.
High Time Cannabis Cup - Michigan (online) 6/20; Tulsa, OK 7/24-25; Arizona (online) 8/15; Northern California (online) 8/29
High Times' live Cup event returns in Oklahoma in July. All other events are digital. The newest wrinkle is People's Choice awards where consumers purchase judge's kits or competing products at participarting stores.
CannaCon - Detroit 6/25-26; Chicago 8/6-7; Biloxi, MS 9/11-12; New York 1/7-8/2022
Based in Seattle, CannaCon is expanding East and South to Detroit (June), Chicago (August), Mississippi (September) and New York (January 2022). Their Oklahoma City event was held on May 27-28.
Cannabis Extraction Conference- Online 6/29
A deep dive into cannabis and hemp extraction, supercritical CO2 extraction, post-processing, risk management, hazards and controls, optimization, closed loop hydrocarbon extraction, machine learning algorithms and more.
Kushstock - Adelanto, CA 7/3
Kushstock is returning to Adelanto Stadium & Events Center in SoCal with an expo featuring vendors, glass blowing, skating, wrestling and live music. The program has yet to be announced.
CHAMPS Trade Show - Las Vegas 7/27-29
From Las Vegas to Atlantic City, CHAMPS is one of the top cannabis B2Bs. They returned to Orlando on March 9-11 for an in-person show. Their next show is at the Las Vegas Convention Center in July.
Niles Cannabis Festival - Niles, MI 7/31
Michigan's top cannabis companies will show off their goods at this music event near the Indiana border. The band lineup has yet to be announced.
Higher Health Retreat - Willow Camp, CA 7/30-8/1
Set in the heart of Humboldt County, this infused event will feature hiking, rafting, yoga, meditation, vegetarian food and, of course, the best Northern California cannabis.
Terptown Throwdown - Spencer, MA 8/20-21
Bands like Collie Buddz and the Home Grown Cannabis Awards will be among the highlights at this indoor event.
Cannapalooza - Bentley, MI 8/20-22
This camping event in Upper Michigan at the "Enchanted Forest" will feature music, arts and educational seminars.
Cannabis Conference - Las Vegas 8/24-25
This event at Paris Las Vegas Resort & Casino is scheduled for August.
International Cannabis Business Conference - Berlin 8/25-27; Zurich 8/31-9/1; Barcelona 10/7
ICBC is returning to Europe in 2021, first to Berlin and Zurich in August and then Barcelona in October. Their first-time ICBC Austin took place on May 6.
National Cannabis Festival - Washington, DC 8/28
The fifth-annual event at RFK Festival Grounds in Washington, DC on April 22 was canceled in 2020. It's been rescheduled for August.
The Southern Hemp Expo - Raleigh, NC 9/2-4
The same people who produce the NoCo Hemp Expo in Denver also have a Southern event. This year it will take place in Raleigh.
Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival - Manchester, TN 9/3-5
The greet jamband fest returns to Tennessee in September. The line-up include Foo Fighters and Tame Impala.
Lucky Leaf Expo - Dallas 9/10-11; Oklahoma City 9/3-4; Jackson, MS 10/8-9; Houston 11/5-6; Albuquerque 2/25-26/2022; Austin 5/14-15/2022
The Texas-based event is exanding to neighboring states like Oklahoma (September) and New Mexico (February 2022). They'll be in Dallas and Oklahoma City (September), Mississippi (October) and Houston (November).
Weedstock - Delaware 9/17-18
Delaware NORML continues their push for adult use in the medical-marijuana state with this traditonal rally-style fest featuring speakers, vendors and bands.
NECANN - New Jersey 10/2-3; Boston 10/10-12; Maine 10/16-17; Chicago 12/4-5; Oklahoma 4/23-24/2022; Vermont 6/11-12/2022
What NECANN started in Boston has expanded to events all over the country. They're returning to Boston and Maine in October. Other events include New Jersey (October), Oklahoma (April 2022) and Vermont (June 2022). They're also hosting BeanCon in Orange, MA on June 26.
Cannabis Science Conference - Baltimore 9/13-15; Long Beach, CA 2/2-4/2002
Specializing in analytical science, medical cannabis, cultivation and hemp, this event has expanded from its original Portland, Oregon base to Baltimore (September) and Long Beach (February 2002).
The State of Cannabis - Los Angeles/hybrid, 9/17-19
This California event is returning in hybrid fashion on September 17-19. Cannabis will be the focus on the opening day and psychedelics on the second. Attendees take a field trip to West Hollywood on the final day.
Cannabis Business Summit & Expo - Detroit 9/22-23; Baltimore 12/7-8; San Francisco 12/15-17
NCIA's 2021 conference scuedule is as follows: Detroit (September), Baltimore (December) and their flagship San Francisco event (also December).
Hall of Flowers - Santa Rosa 9/22-23; Palm Springs, 12/8-9
After taking place in San Francisco and Santa Rosa, this California event expanded to Palm Springs for 2020, but that event was canceled. The Santa Rosa event has been rescheduled for September and Palm Springs for December.
Budtender Awards - Las Vegas 9/30-10/2
This dispensary event returned to Las Vegas in May. The next Budtender Awards is in September-October.
The New York Cannabis Arts & Music Festival - New Lisbon, NY 9/24-26
This Upstate New York camping event has a full slate of local bands, plus the New York State Growers Cup and plenty of vendors.
Women in Cannabis Expo - Reno 9/27-29
This canna-women event has been rescheduled to Reno, Nevada in September.
Meadowlands - Navarro, CA 10/1-4
The 2021 California-based event is taking place at Camp Navarro in Mendocino County in October.
Spannabis - Barcelona 10/8-10
Europe's largest marijuana event attracts 35,000 attendees. It's a seed buyer's paradise. Smokers have congregated in Barcelona each March for Spannabis since 2002. The 2021 event has been moved to October.
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival - 10/8-17
America's greatest music festival has moved from April and May to October.
MJBizCon - Las Vegas 10/19-22
The cannabis industry's biggest convention draws 30,000 attendees and more than a thousand exhibitors. Their 2020 event was postponed and moved to a virtual format. MJBizCon is returning to the Las Vegas Convention Center in October.
Cannabis World Congress & Business Expo - New York 11/4-6
The CWCBE's flagship event at New York's Javits Convention Center is scheduled for November 4-6. CWC's other events in Boston and Los Angeles have yet to be rescheduled.
Black CannaConference & Expo - New Orleans 11/18-20
Sponsored by Black CannaBusiness magazine, this event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and breakout sessions with industry experts discussing cannabis business opportunities, innovative industry solutions, social equity and professional development for those seeking a career in cannabis.
Lift & Co. Expo - Toronto 11/18-21
This Canadian event in Toronto has been moved from July to November.
Emerald Cup - Los Angeles 12/11-12
The popular Northern California judging contest is going South to Los Angeles in December. In April, awards were handed out by B-Real, Ziggy Marley, Melissa Etheridge, Michael Franti, Abdullah Saeed and many more. Check out the winners here.
Completed 2021 Events
SXSW - online 3/16-20
In 2019, 280,000 people attended South by Southwest (SXSW), the annual music, film and interaactive industry event that takes over Austin every March. SXSW started as a music conference/festival in 1986. Over the last few years, many panel discussions have focused on cannabis. SXSW Online '21 took place on March 16-20.
NOCO Hemp Expo - Denver 3/25-27
Concerned about the health and safety of 400 vendors and 20,000 potential attendees, the 2020 event was postponed twice and rescheduled to March at the National Western Complex in Denver.
Georgia World Cannabis Conference - Atlanta 3/27
This first-time event took place on March 27 at Loudermilk Conference Center in Atlanta.
Hash Bash - Ann Arbor/hybrid 4/3
Since 1971, marijuana advocates have protested on the Diag at the University of Michigan on the first Saturday in April. The rally as well the Monroe Street Fair that follows Hash Bash was canceled and replaced by an online event in 2020. The 2021 in-person event took place April 3 on the Diag.
In addition, an online Hash Bash happened later on Twitch and featured Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, Rep. Debbie Dingell, State Sen. Jeff Irwin, former Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty, former Detroit Lion Calvin Johnson, U.S. and activist John Sinclair.
One year after 13-year-old Charlotte Figi passed away, the cannabis community came together to remember the brave girl featured by CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta as the face of CBD. Presented by Realm of Caring, the Rock the Roc line-up included Jason Mraz, Michael Franti, Avett Brothers, Graham Nash, Sarah Jarosz and more.
Cannabis Real Estate Summit - online 4/8
The same folks who brought you the Cannabis Media Summit turned their attention to real estate in April.
Pennsylvania Cannabis Festival - Kutztown 4/17-18
Held at Renninger's Farmers Market in Kutztown, this outdoor event originally started in Scranton in 2015. The 2020 fest was postponed until October. More than 20,000 people, including Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, attended the now two-day event in April.
The Great American Sesh In - San Francisco/hybrid 4/20
This 4/20 benefit for Last Prisoner Project (LPP) took place at The Midway in San Francisco and also online. The event featured DJ sets by Dr. Shortcut and Rob Garza.
Even Higher Together - online 4/20
Weedmaps was back with their annual 4/20 livestream. This year the host was none other than Snoop Dogg. The lineup included Wiz Khalifa, Berner, Talib Kweli, A$AP Rocky, Eric Rachmany, Jaleel White, Corvain Cooper and more. It was also a benefit for LPP.

This first-time event took place at the Hapeville Maker Space in Atlanta in April.
National Cannabis Unity Conference - online 4/29-30
Produced by Americans for Safe Access, the 2021 online event that caters to medical-marijuana patients, doctors, scientists and activists took place in April.
SSDP Policy Conference - online 4/29-5/2
The student activist organization's annual conference took place online at the end of April and start of May.
Since 1973, New York marijuana activists have gathered in a park on the first Saturday in May. What was originally called the Smoke-In is now known as the NYC Cannabis Parade & Rally. The 2021 event took place despite strict Covid-19 regulations. After the traditional parade, people assembled in Union Square Park for a rally featuring Sen. Chuck Schumer and other public officials.
Delic: A Psychedelic Wellness Summit - Los Angeles 5/1-2
This first-time Los Angeles event took place in May.
Natural Products Expo West - online 5/24-27
Many CBD and hemp companies exhibit at this event, which took place online in May.
Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference - online 6/3-4; online 10/13-14
An extensive two-day line-up of keynotes, panels and pitches featuring leaders of the cannabis industry.
NORML Legal Seminar - Aspen 6/3-5
Every year, NORML's attorneys meet in Aspen, Colorado to swap drug-war stories at the Gant Hotel and Hunter Thompson's Owl Ranch. The 2021 event is scheduled for June.
OK Cannapalooza - Oklahoma City 6/3-6
Dubbed Oklahoma's "premiere cannabis music festival," this camping event will feature bands, vendors, swimming and more. The band lineup has yet to be announced.
Canceled 2021 Events
Since being founded in 2014 by Atlanta's Sweetwater Brewing Company, which features a number of hemp beers, this became the largest commerical 4/20 event in the country. The festival has been canceled for last two years.
The original tradition of 420 on 4/20 is upheld in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, where a horde of stoners gather and light up together every April 20. The 4/20 Hippie Hill gathering has been canceled the last two years.
Denver is home base for 420 events. The FlyHi 420 Music Festival (formerly Mile High 420 Festival) in Civic Center Park was canceled the last two years.
One of the largest 4/20 events featured Cypress Hill (pictured above) in 2019. The event was canceled the last two years.
This popular California music festival, founded in 1999, takes place over consecutive weekends in April. The 2020 event was postponed, rescheduled and then canceled again. There will not be a Coachella Festival in 2021.
Ultra Music Festival - Miami 3/25-27
In 2019, 190,000 people attended this DJ/EDM event in Miami's Bayfront Park. It dates back to 1999. The event was canceled the last two years.
Austin Reggae Festival - 4/22-24
This ganja-friendly event was canceled the last two years. It's been rescheduled to April 22-24, 2022.
