Bob Marley would have been 79 years old on Feb. 6. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1945 and grew up to become the greatest reggae musician of all time. Marley died in 1981 from cancer. His children have kept the music alive as have many other bands who pay tribute to Bob live as well as cover his large songbook in recordings. Marley was also a legendary ganja smoker.
The big news is the Feb. 14 theatrical release of the Bob Marley: One Love biopic starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as Tuff Gong.
This weekend is the lead-up to Marley's birthday on Tuesday. Tribute events continue through next weekend. Here's a list of events:
