Right out the gate during their opening monologue, in the bit "This Time Last Year," Shelton explained to a huge roar from the crowd: "Another change this year is marijuana's being legalized in state after state. Last year you had to go to an official marijuana dispensary."
Shelton began the second gag: "Oh with another change, last year Jake Owen had all 10 of his fingers."
Bryan: "Man, did y'all here about that? It was horrible. Jake lost a finger in a go-cart accident."
Shelton: "You know where they found it?"
Bryan: "On Miley Cyrus' tour bus. It was taking a selfie and smoking a doobie."
Other stony moments at the ACMs included CelebStoner favorite Kacey Musgraves winning Album of the Year for Same Trailer Different Park (beating Shelton, Bryan, Tim McGraw and Flotrida Georgia Line) only two months after taking the Grammy for Country Album of the Year. Musgraves also wrote Miranda Lambert's “Mama’s Broken Heart," which won Single Record of the Year.
Merle Haggard received the Crystal Milestone Award and, to honor the Hagg, George Strait sang "I'm a Lonesome Fugitive" featuring the lyric, "Mama used to pray my crops would fail."
Darius Rucker performed Bob Dylan’s “Wagon Wheel” and the show closed with Strait picking up his second straight Entertainer Of the Year award. Check out all the winners here.
