The Top Stoner Songs of All Time, Part 2

19. I Got Stoned and I Missed It - Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show (1975)
Written by Shel Silverstein, this humorous country number appeared on Bankrupt. "I was sitting around my basement, I just rolled myself a taste," sings Ray Sawyer (he wore the eyepatch, hence the name Dr. Hook). "Of something green and gold and glorious to get me through the day." The dude gets so high he misses everything else that's going on around him. It's one of several songs penned by Silverstein for the '70s group, and serves as the title track on I Got Stoned and I Missed It: The Best from Shel Silverstein, 1971-1979.
