Rock and Pop Star Deaths in 2020

Chad Stuart - Dec. 20; half of the British pop group Chad & Jeremy; they had a number of hits in 1964-1965, including "A Summer Song" (No, 4, 1964, watch below; he's at left), which Stuart co-wrote; suffered from pneumonia; was 79.

Ira Sullivan - Sept. 21; jazz trumpeter and saxophonist who played with Art Blakey, Red Rodney, Roland Kirk, Eddie Harris, Red Garland and others and released 19 albums from 1958-2010; suffered from pancreatic cancer; was 89. Watch him perform "Green Dolphin Street" below.

Doug Supernaw - Nov. 13; Texas-born singer-songwriter has several Top 10 country hits, including "I Don't Call Him Daddy" (No. 1, 1993), "Not Enough Hours in the Night" (No. 3, 1995) and "Reno" (No. 4, 1993); suffered from lung and bladder cancer; was 60.

Bruce Swedien - Nov. 16; audio engineer earned Grammys for his work on Michael Jackson's Thriller, Bad and Dangerous albums and Quincy Jones' Back on the Block and Q's Jook Joint; cause undisclosed; was 86;

Eric Taylor - Mar. 9; Austin-based singer-songwriter; was 70. 

Little Al Thomas - Feb. 19; Lousiana-born Chicago blues singer/guitarist headed the Crazy House Band; was 89. WAtch "You're Breaking My Heart" below.

Tripple Beanz (nee Corey Thompson) - Nov. 27; New Jersey rapper and Fetty Wap associate was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Newark; was 29.

Ty (nee Benedict Chijioke) - May 7; London-born rapper had a U.K. hit with "Oh You Want More?" (No. 64, 2004, watch below); suffered from pneumonia and the coronavirus; was 47.
