CBS Censors Justin Bieber at Grammys, Bleeps Several 'Weed' References

Justin Bieber performs at the 2022 Grammys

"I get my weed from California," Justin Bieber sang at the Grammy Awards on April 3 during his performance of "Peaches." But after several verses, CBS censored the word "weed." CelebStoners Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, Chelsea Handler, Kacey Musgraves, Dave Chappelle and Bieber were among the nominess. Here's the rundown:

Justin Bieber

The Canadian pop star scored big with six total 2022 nominations, but left empty handed. Half were for his hit song "Peaches" on which he brags: "I get my weed from California/Pass that shit." Peaches has since been branded as Bieber's weed strain. He received the following noms: Album of the Year (lost to Jon Batiste), Record of the Year (Soul Sonic), Song of the Year (Soul Sonic), Best R&B Performance (Silk Sonic/Jazmine Sullivan tie), Best Pop Vocal Album (Olivia Rodrigo) and Best Pop Vocal Performance (Rodrigo) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Doja Cat featuring SZA). Bieber has won two Grammys (out of 22 noms), but none for his most popular songs.

During "Peaches" on the Grammys show, Bieber repeated the weed line several times before the network bleeped out "weed" and "shit." However, you can hear "weed' if you listen closely. Watch the Grammys and Official Video below.

Chelsea Handler

The comedian's first Grammy nom was for Evolution in the Best Comedy Album category. Handler was the only woman nominated in the category that included Louis C.K., who was accused by five women in 2015 of sexual misconduct, and Kevin Hart, who was stripped of hosting the 2018 Oscars over homophobic tweets. She lost to Louis C.K.

Willie Nelson

Nelson's album That's Life was nominated in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category. It's his 53rd Grammy nom; he's won 10 times, including in 2020. He lost to Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.

Paul McCartney

In our review of McCartney III, we wrote about the "Find My Way," nominated for Best Rock Song: "The closest song to a single on the album, it’s full of McCartney pop flourishes as well as surprising falsetto vocals on the chorus." As a solo artist, McCartney now has 81 Grammy noms and 18 wins. He lost to Foo Fighters.

Kacey Musgraves

Our fave female country singer is also a Grammy favorite. She's won six out of 11 nominations. This year Musgraves was nominated for "camera roll" (lower case) as Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. However, Star-Crossed was excluded from the Best Country Album category because it was deemed by the Grammys as "not sufficiently country." She lost to Chris Stapleton in both categories.

Dave Chappelle

The controversial stand-up comic was on a Grammys roll, winning each time he'd been nominated for Best Comedy Album (2017-2019). However, Chappelle's Netlix special 8:46 in the Best Spoken Word Album category lost to Carry On (Don Cheadle). It's his first loss.

Blues Traveler

Traveler's Blues, the jam-band's first nomination since winning for "Run-Around" (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals) in 1995, earned a Best Traditonal Blues Album nod. They lost to Cedric Burnside and are now batting .500.
