What CBD Oil Businesses Have Learned from the Vaping Craze

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)—the chemical compound responsible for the signature “high” in marijuana—is one of 85 active cannabinoids found within the plant. The second-best known one is cannabidiol (CBD), which unlike THC, is non-psychoactive and therefore doesn’t cause intoxication when consumed. Instead, it's shown promise in treating multiple ailments, such as epilepsy and chronic pain.

While CBD oil is now legal in 16 states, cannabidiol is still considered a Schedule I drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act. In December, the DEA gave cannabidiol its own code for a marijuana extract.

Like the CBD industry, vape shops and suppliers have to walk a fine line to avoid the government’s wrath. It’s a mostly unregulated industry, after all, and those involved would prefer to keep it that way.

The influence the vape craze has on CBD businesses is indicated from the following:

Exploring Flavor

Companies like ZampleBox focus on flavors, with dozens to choose from and many more in the works. The typical online CBD oil store or brick and mortar shop will tend to do the same thing—put the emphasis on the least controversial and most interesting aspects of the product.

Self-Regulating

Another vape industry trend borrowed by CBD oil suppliers is the ability to successfully self-regulate. While there will always be some level of government regulation for such industries, the degree to which these regulations police the processes involved from raw resource collection to point-of-sale depends on how well the companies do it themselves. As such, CBD vape oil shops and suppliers make a point to ensure quality and prevent unlawful sales.

Opening Up in the Urban Core

Across the U.S., CBD oil shops are choosing retail locations in the inner city as frequently as in the idyllic suburbs. This trend began with the expansion of vape stores over the last six years. Cities appreciate the investment made in otherwise vacant properties. Furthermore, urban-based vape and CBD oil stores are often in areas where there’s a preexisting push for improvement through additional shops and renovated houses nearby.

Promoting, But Not Exaggerating

While there’s no reason to shy away from showcasing the health benefits of CBD oil, making exaggerated claims is not only unethical, but may draw attention from the authorities.

The growing CBD oil market spreading through states where the sale of this compound is legal is moving with caution. Luckily, the path they’re on has already been mapped out for the most part, thanks to vape industry expansion over the last decade.
