Morgan Spurlock Goes 'Inside' Harborside Health Center

In the premiere episode of CNN's new reality show, Inside Man, Morgan Spurlock works as a budtender at California's largest dispensary, Harborside Health Center.

"It's a lot nicer than I thought it would be," he says. "It's like a proper health clinic that smells like my college bedroom."

Morgan Spurlock is best known for such films as "Super Size Me."

Spurlock digs deep into the Justice Department's aggressive enforcement of marijuana laws in California, which has had legal medical marijuana since 1996, but has seen as many as 200 raids of dispensaries under Obama. Harborside is a main target, but thankfully has remained open during its legal battle with the Feds.

Fans of Weeds Wars will be happy to see Harborside co-founder Steve DeAngelo's return to cable TV. He still has his tradmark braids and porkpie hat, and has added a chihuahua to his entourage.

"I think he's changing the tide in the perception of what medical marijuana really is," Spurlock gushes about DeAngelo. "He's proving that there a market for it and he's proving there's a need for it and I think he's proving there's a way to do it safely and effiiciently."

Spurlock also sheds light on the case of Matt Davies, who was busted for growing medical marijuana in Stockton, plus his two dispensaries were raided. Like DeAngeleo, Davies says he went by the book as far as foillowing the state law. "I was naive," he says. In May, Davies received a five-year mandatory sentence.

Looking beyond medical marijuana and towards the legalization victories in Colorado and Washington, Spurlock ponders, "It can generate vast amounts of tax revenue for the country. It could really change things."
