'Amy' Named Best Documentary at 2016 Oscars

Asif Kapadia’s "Amy" was named the Best Documentary Feature at the 2016 Academy Awards.

Drug-themed movies received five Academy Award nominations for films released in 2015. Cartel Land and Amy were both up for Best Documentary, which "Amy" won, and Sicario earned noms for Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins), Score and Sound Editing. 

Matthew Heineman's Cartel Land and Denis Villeneuve's Sicario both focus on the drug war in Mexico. Asif Kapadia's Amy is loving portrait of singer Amy Winehouse.

The Oscars were handed out on Feb. 28 on ABC. Check out all the winners and nominees here.
