Dave Chappelle and Maya Rudolph Snag 2020 Emmys

Emmy winners Dave Chappelle and Maya Rudolph, who parodied Kamala Harris on "Saturday Night Live."

Here are our favorite 2020 Emmy winners and nominees:

 

Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones - Outstanding Variety Special (Per-Recorded)

Dave Chappelle was nominated in the same category for his fifth comedy special on Netflix and for Dave Chappelle: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He was also nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for Sticks & Stones as was Stan Lathan for Outstanding Directing.

WON two Emmys for Stick & Stones - Variety Special and Writing for a Variety Special. In addition Lathan won for Outstanding Directing

Chappelle's other Emmy win was for Equanimity (Outstanding Variety Special) in 2018. He's been nominated seven times.

Maya Rudolph - Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series 

Former Saturday Night Life cast member Maya Rudolph parodied then Democratic presidential candidate and now VP nominee Sen. Kamala Harris in several debate skits on SNL.

WON for Guest Actress and also for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for BIg Mouth.

Rudolph's been nominated for six Emmys, winning twice. She's Minnie Riperton's daughter.

 

Brad Pitt - Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series

Brad Pitt offered his take on Dr. Anthony Fauci on SNL.

LOST to Rudolph. 

Pitt won an Emmy for The Normal Heart (Outstanding Television Movie) in 2014. He's been nominated four times.

Zendaya - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

The actress stars in Euphoria, the controversial HBO series about a teenager's struggle with drugs and life with her high school friends.

WON

Euphoria received two additional 2020 Emmys for Contemporary Makeup and Original Dramatic Score.

 

 

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie - Outstanding Television Movie 

Six years after the popular meth series Breaking Bad ended on AMC, creator Vince Gilligan returned to New Mexico with a revenge story starring Jesse (Aaron Paul).

LOST to Bad Education.

From 2008-2014, Breaking Bad racked up 58 nominations, winning 16 Emmys.

 

 

Beastie Boys Story - Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special

The remaining Beastie Boys (Mike D and Ad-Rock) reminisce about the band's history.

LOST to The Apollo.

 

Linda Cardellini - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Linda Cardellini as Judy in Dead to Me and Alex Borstein as Susie in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel both smoked joints in series episodes (see photos below). 

Cardellini LOST to Catherine O'Hara (Schitt's Creek).

Cardellini's been nominated for three Emmys.

 

Alex Borstein - Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Borstein LOST to Annie Murphy (Schitt's Creek).

Borstein's been nominated for seven Emmys, winning three times (twice for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and once for Family Guy).

 

 

Amy Poehler - Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program

Former Parks and Recreation stars Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman teamed up to host Making It, a home improvement competition show on NBC. This nomination is for Season 2. Offerman was not nominated. Poehler also was a cast member of SNL and has starred in many movies.

LOST to RuPaul (RuPaul's Drag Race).

Poehler has received 20 Emmy nominations, but only won once for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (SNL) in 2016.

 

 

Laurel Canyon: A Place in Time - Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special

Los Angeles' musical hub in the '60s and '70s, Laurel Canyon has been the subject of several documentaries over the last few years. A Place in Time is split into two parts on EPIX. It follows last year's Echo in the Canyon.

LOST to The Apollo.

 

 

Groundhog Day - Outstanding Commerical

Jeep recruited Bill Murray to revisit his role as Phil in the 1993 movie Groundhog Day for the company's Super Bowl ad. To the tune of "I Got You Babe," he wakes up repeatedly and eventually kidnaps the buck-toothed rodent in a bright red Jeep. 

LOST to Back-to-School Essentials.

 

 

Wu-Tang: An American Saga - Outstanding Original Title Theme Music

This 10-part Hulu series reenacts the lives of the many Wu-Tang Clan members, including Method Man. The title theme is composed by The Rza.

LOST to Hollywood.

It was The Rza's first Emmy nomination.
