BigMike's 'Next Marijuana Millionaire' Series Delayed or Canceled

Mike "BigMike" Straumietis, host of "The Next Marijuana Millionaire"

Scheduled to debut on August 15, The Next Marijuana Millionaire is nowhere to be found on streaming services.

Hosted by Mike "BigMike" Straumietis, owner of Advanced Nutrients, the show was hyped as a Shark Tank for weed, with 16 entrepreneurs competing for a $1 million jackpot. It was supposed to begin steaming on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Pluto TV.

"We have made the decision to delay the premiere of NMKM in order to ensure we've got the best opportunity to do our contestants - and our community - justice," he posted at Instagram on August 14. " We are confident that we are making the right decision to launch this revolutionary show at a moment when it will have widespreach reach and drive a tremendous impact for the cannabis community. Check back for the new premiere date soon."

At Facebook, Sisters of the Valley, who are featured in the documentary Breaking Habits and were among the show's 16 contestants, posted the following statement on August 14:

The Next Marijuana Millionaire show will not be showing on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and other places this Saturday. The show has been pulled from all planned networks, or else, it was never really scheduled. The producers aren't sharing any information.

So as far as we are concerned, it's been cancelled. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it is so 1980s Apprentice with BigMike making himself look like a Big Shot. Amazon Prime probably pulled it. The "handlers" aren't saying. They are just saying "bigger opportunities, bigger networks, hold on, it's coming," which has been the story for two years until recently when they made a big deal about announcing their release date and saying it was on three networks, when it's not going to be on any.

I think things might have gone sideways.

It's the wrong era for the white guy to be beating his chest and telling people how great he is. You can see the show is cursed.

Sorry, I know everyone wanted to see me compete against the heads of a dozen cannabis companies, but it appears that Mother Goddess has interfered to put the show down. For now, anyway. Maybe there's a reformation that can happen. I always hold out hope for undeveloped people and undeveloped TV series.

In a press release posted on August 4, the 6-foot-7 Straumietis is described as the "Godfather of Good Cannabis" and a "highly sought after in Hollywood, having lent his expertise as an advisor to Emmy-winning shows including Showtime's Weeds, the CSI franchise, and Seth Rogen's film, Pineapple Express. Since 1983, BigMike has overseen the cultivation of millions of plants and is responsible for 53 innovations in the world of cannabis cultivation, helping to bring the plant to its true genetic potential. He founded Advanced Nutrients in 1999, introducing the world's most complete cannabis growing nutrient system."

Straumietis's reputation for holding wild parties at his $16 million Malibu, CA home precedes him. He literally calls himself "Marijuana Don." Perhaps the show producers realized, like Sisters of the Valley, that the timing for such a reality series is poor and have hence canceled its release.
