Cooking and cannabis go together like, well, an alliteration. But do these TV shows actually work?

We've watched Bong Appétit on Vice, and Cooked with Cannabis and Cooking on High on Netflix. None lasted more than three seasons.

Now the Chopped franchise is weighing in with Chopped 420, which will start streaming episodes on discovery+ on April 20.

The host will be comedian Ron Funches and the judges will include chefs Esther ChoiLuke Reyes and Sam Talbot; drag performer and cannabis activist Laganja Estranja; and comedian Tacarra Williams.

It will be the "first time in Chopped history" that chefs will "utilize cannabis to enhance their dishes,” says Food Network president Courtney White. "Viewers are in for a wild ride."

It's really no longer that wild to see people whip up dishes with cannabis on TV. Each week contestants will vie for the $10,000 grand prize.

The Portland, Oregon-based Funches has appeared on a number of comedy specials and TV series. He discusses his experiences with weed in the clip below.

The previous cannabis cooking hosts were Abdullah Saeed and B-Real (Bong Appétit), Kelis and Leather Storrs (Cooked with Cannabis) and John Levya and Ngaio Bealum (Cooking on High)
