'Elvis,' 'Euphoria' and 'Ozark' Take Acting Awards at 80th Golden Globes

Three CelebStoners received 2023 Golden Globe Awards nominations when they were announced on Dec. 12 in Hollywood:

Jeff Bridges - Nominated for Best Performance in a Television Series by an Actor/Drama for The Old Man (on Hulu). He plays retired CIA agent Dan Chase. Bridges lost to Kevin Costner for Yellowstone.

Brad Pitt - Nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Babylon. He plays silent film star Jack Conrad. Pitt lost to Ke Huy Quan for Everything Everywhere All at Once

Seth Rogen - Nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series for Pam & Tommy (on Hulu). He plays carpenter Rand Gauthier. Rogen lost to Paul Walter Hauser for Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Other 80th Golden Globe nominees of note include:

Babylon: Nominated for Best Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Margot Robbie), Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Diego Calva), Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Pitt), Best Director/Motion PIcture (Damian Chazelle) and Best Original Score (Justin Hurwitz). Hurwitz won for Best Score.

Elvis - Presley biopic nominated for Best Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy (Austin Butler) and Best Director/Motion PIcture (Baz Luhrmann). Butler won for Best Actor.

Hacks (HBO) - Nominated for Best Television Series/Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actress in a Televsion Series/Musical or Comedy (Jean Smart) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series (Hannah Einbinder). Hacks lost in all categories.

Ozark (Netflix) - Nominated for Best Television Series/Drama, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series/Drama (Laura Linney) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series (Julia Garner). Garner won for Best Supporting Actress.

Margot Robbie - Nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy for Babylon. She plays hard-partying Nellie LaRoy in this over-the-top period piece. Robbie lost to Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The White Lotus (HBO) - Nominated for Best Television Limited Series and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series (Jennifer Coolidge and Aubrey Plaza). The White Lotus, which features cocaine and MDMA use, won for Best Limited Series and Coolidge for Best Supporting Actress.

Zendaya (HBO) - Nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series/Drama for Euphoria. She plays high-school drug addict Rue Bennett. Zendaya won for Best Actress. She did not accept the award.

Other big winners were The Fabelmans (Best Best Motion Picture/Drama, Best Director), The Banshees of Isherin (Best Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture/Musical or Comedy and Best Screenplay) and Abbott Elementary (Best Televison Series/Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series/Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Television Series).
