McNeal, who led the Tigers last season with 90 tackles, was arrested and charged with second-degree marijuana possession along with two former players at 1 am during a traffic stop on East University Drive in Auburn. They were booked at Lee Country Detention Center and "bonded out" at 6 am for $500 each.
It didn't take long for Malzahn to remove one of his top players from the roster. "After visiting with Demetruce, I made the decision to dismiss him from our team." he stated several hours after the arrest.
Auburn opens the 2013 season vs. Washington State on Aug. 31. Last season the Tigers finished with a 3-9 record.
