Four Mizzou Athletes Busted for Pot

Mizzou, in home whites, may be minus two players who were arrested for marijuana for tonight’s NIT contest vs. Davidson.

Two University of Missouri basketball players, arrested for marijuana possession on Mar. 15, were suspended before their NIT tournament first-round game against Davidson on May 18. Mizzou won 85-77.

Freshmen hoopsters Wes Clark and Shane Rector were riding with Aarion Penton and Shaun Rupert in the car Rupert was driving when it was pulled over for an expired license plate at 11:30 pm at 501 E. Broadway in Columbia. Police smelled marijuana and found a small amount in the car. All four were given summonses.

Basketball coach Frank Haith immediately suspended Clark and Rector, leaving the team short on depth. Both guards, Clark averages four points a game off the bench while Rector hardly plays.

Mizzou (23-12) lost to Southern Miss in the second round, 71-63, on May 20.

The football players, both defensive backs, were also suspended.
