Chiefs' Demetrius Harris Busted for Weed in Missouri

It's how most athletes get arrested for marijuana: in a car. Demetrius Harris, the Chiefs' backup tight end, was busted Mar. 7 after a traffic stop led to a search that produced more than 35 grams of pot in the vehicle. Police charged Harris, who was a passenger, with suspicion of felony possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

The stop took place on Interstate 49 in Bates County, 60 miles south of Kansas City, at 4:20 pm. Harris was booked at Bates County Jail and released. "The trooper recognized the odor of marijuana and marijuana was located in his possession," Sgt. Bill Lowe stated about the arrest.

In Missouri, possession of more then 35 grams is a felony, punishable by seven years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Signed by the Chiefs as the free agent in 2013, the 6-7 Texas native has played sparingly, accumulating 27 receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
