"We're disappointed by the news but somewhat unsurprised," Acreage CEO George Allen stated. "We developed the ad in the spirit of a public service announcement. We feel it's our responsibility to advocate on behalf of our patients."
The minute-long black-and-white ad features three patients and a brooding soundtrack. "Cannabis has given me my life," says Greg Kazmierczak, who became addicted to opioids after several back surgeries.
CBS refused to comment about its decision. It would've cost Acreage $5 million had CBS accepted the pro-pot spot.
Acreage operates dispensies and cultivation and processing facilities in 15 states where either recreational or medical cannabis are legal.
