Eleven NFL Players Now in the Cannabis Business

NFL players are at the forefront of the medical-cannabis movement in sports, preaching CBD and THC over opioids and other pharma medicines. Some have started their own brands while others have invested in companies or been hired as ambassadors. Here are 11:


Marshawn Lynch

Announced just in time for Super Bowl LV, the Super Bowl XLVIII winner (with the Seattle Seahawks) and former running back has launched Dodi Blunts with the Toronto-based 2nd and Goal Ventures.

Rob Gronkowski

In 2019, the four-time Super Bowl-winning tight end (three with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Ray Bucs) quit the NFL and teamed up with Abacus Health Solutions on a line of CBD products called CBDMedic. He returned to the NFL in 2020 and caught two touchdown passes in Super Bowl LV, which he Bucs won.


Calvin Johnson and Rob Sims

The former Deroit Lions teamed up on Privitiv, a licensed cultivation facility in Webberville, MIchigan. Their first dispensary is expected ot open soon in Niles. Johnson is a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver and Sims played offensive guard.


Ricky Williams

Famous for his up-and-down NFL career, which included numerous suspensions for marijuana use, the former running back has pivoted into CBD with his line of RW/Wellness products.


Terrell Davis

The Pro Football Hall of Fame running back and former Denver Bronco owns the hemp-infused sports beverage company Defy.


Brett Favre

Super Bowl XXXIV winner (with the Green Bay Packers) and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback has become a pitch man for the CBD company Green Eagle.


Marvin Washington

Super Bowl XXIII winner (with the Broncos) and former defensive end founded his own Iso-Sport line of CBD performance products and is on the board of Isodiol.


Joe Montana

The four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback (all with the San Francisco 49ers) has invested in Caliva and Herb.co.


Eugene Monroe

Banged up after just seven seasons in the NFL, the offensive lineman quit playing for the Baltimore Ravens in 2016. He's since joined up with Green Thumb Industries and promotes their line of Rythm products. 


Carson Palmer

The former quarterback is affiliated with Level Select CBD
