This would be a fascinating movie even if Dock Ellis hadn't thrown a no-hitter under the influence of LSD in 1970. But, in fact, he did just that - the first and only time it ever happened - which Jeff Radice explores, as he does Ellis' life in baseball during the '60s and '70s when racial barriers were still an issue for black players. It's a cautionary tale about professional athletes living a high life and what can happen when the games are over.
