The Top 32 Stoner Movies of 2016

Like last year, there wasn't a boffo box office stoner movie hit in 2016. But, as usual, there were plenty of movies that featured drugs (pot, coke, heroin, Ecstasy, LSD).

A sequel—Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising—tops our list. However, it must be noted that Neighbors 2 did one-third the box office as the original flick did two years ago. This is not to say that Seth Rogen has cooled off. In fact, he has two movies on this list (Sausage Party is the other).

Rogen's buddy Jonah Hill, who co-wrote Sausage Party, received a Golden Globe nomination for his over-the-top role as a stony gun runner in War Dogs.

Known for his roles in both of the Neighbors movies, Zac Efron showed off his pecs and party skills in Dirty Grandpa and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates as well.

Fresh from Parks and Recreation, Aubrey Plaza also appeared in Mike and Dave and had some naughty fun with Robert De Niro in Dirty Grandpa.

Fans of Breaking Bad alert: Bryan Cranston co-starred in the coke drama, The Infiltrator. Cocaine is also used in the Euro-drama, A Bigger Splash. and crack plays a major role in Moonlight.

Young actresses made their mark in raw, daring films like White Girl (Morgan Sayler) and American Honey (Sasha Lane).

Jazz trumpeters were hot in biopics about Miles Davis (Miles Ahead) and Chet Baker (Born to be Blue), starring Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke, respectively.

Documentaries delved into South American drugs and shamans (Embrace of the Serpent), mass incarceration (13th), makers of LSD (Orange Sunshine), editors of The Cannabist (Rolling Papers) and the pharmaceuitcal drug epidemic (Prescription Thugs).

Richard LInklater's not-quite Dazed and Confused sequel Everybody Wants Some!! reveled in '80s nostalgia and The Preppie Connection, set in 1984, followed a student as he smuggled coke from Colombia.

In a year of broad comedies, Andy Samberg brilliantly skewered the music industry in Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and Key & Peele sparked giggles in Keanu.

Two brothers—one's a stoner, the other's not—go at it in Mountain Men. And two brothers find trouble on a Mexican spring break in Sunset.

Even Pierce Brosnan got into the stoner movie act, playing a nefarious designer drug dealer in Urge.
