8. SHOT! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock

Music photographer Mick Rock came back from near death to be featured in this documentary, which starts with him on a hospital gurney. It's a recurring motif in Barnaby Clay's film. Rock literally shot most of the great stars of the '70s and '80s, from David Bowie and Freddie Mercury to Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Debby Harry. He credits his early LSD use with steering him toward the photography profession, but Rock later succumbed to white powder ("I had a serious cocaine habit"). Rock survived to tell us all about it, and does by personally narrating his own documentary.
