The year’s other rock biopic didn’t get the hype afforded Rocketman. Jeff Tremaine pours it on thick with the sex, drugs and rock & roll. L.A. ’80s hard rockers Motley Crue lived the life of excess until it almost killed them. Based on The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Band, Crue’s group autobiography from 2002, it shows their rise and fall and rise again, with cocaine, heroin, alcohol and backstage sex all part of their basic routine.
