'Tripitor' Mushrooms Commercial on 'Real Time with Bill Maher'

Bill Maher on "Real Time": "Mushrooms are legalized in Oregon. That’s pretty great."

Noting that "mushrooms are having a moment," Bill Maher hyped Tripitor on the latest episode of Real Time on HBO.

"Mushrooms are legalized in Oregon," Maher proclaimed. "That's pretty great."

An article headlined, "Study Shows That Psilocybin Is More Effective Than Antidepressants," prompted the following comment:

"Turns out instead of the pharmaceutical bullshit, the mushrooms do better."

Then he showed the Tripitor spoof ad.

Maher asked panelist April Ryan if she'd ever consumed mushrooms.

"Yeah, the ones that you cook," she said coyly.

"Not the fun ones?"

"No," the former White House correspondent demurred. "I'm a serious journalist."

In addition to Oregon, seven U.S. cities - including Washington, DC, Oakland and Denver - plus Vancouver, BC, have decriminalized the therapeutic use of entheogenic plants like mushrooms.
